[Acceptance: Bring Me In]

Gracia pushes a cup of tea into Roy's cold hands. The alchemist accepts it but does not raise his head. He feels like shit for coming here, for even calling Maes in the first place when the memories got to be too much to handle.

"He'll be back soon." Because when Roy had called strained and in pain only to cut the call off short, Maes had gone right over only to apparently miss Roy in transit.

"Gracia, I'm sorry I -" The door opening cuts Roy off. He looks up to see Maes standing in the doorway, dripping from the rain. Roy doesn't remember standing up or meeting Hughes somewhere in the distance between the door and the living room. What he does register are arms going around him and one hand leading his head without fail right to the shoulder, the space he's familiar with.

His shoulders start to shake and that rigid control of his breaks down. Hughes murmurs soft words in his ear that he doesn't understand but curl warmly in him none-the-less. Time passes - how much is unknown. Roy tenses when he starts to come back to himself. He shouldn't be here. This isn't fair to Hughes or Gracia. Their life isn't for him and -

- And then slimmer arms wrap around him from behind and a head leans against his back.

"It's okay. You're home." Gracia's voice and Maes' smile - Roy lets himself come undone again.

[Routine: Wrap Me Up]

A sleepy murmur and an arm around his waist all herald the arrival of Maes Hughes into the kitchen. It's no surprise when Roy feels half formed kisses on the back of his neck and a nose nuzzling into his hair line. It's also no surprise when he catches a hand sneaking towards the plate of sausage sitting next to the stove. In fact Roy has been expecting it.

"Maes." His tone fills with disapproval even if those lips on his neck are a little distracting. Feeling Maes Hughes' pout against his skin is worth it though. The would be thief's hand drops and curls around Roy instead - chin on his shoulder.

"Is Gracia still asleep?" Roy asks, catching the sight of Maes' face out of the corner of his eye.

"Mhmm. You're up early." Maes yawns, presses another kiss to the side of Roy's neck and slinks off to retrieve some coffee since he isn't going to be allowed to pilfer sausage. Roy watches Maes lean against the counter and wonders what that little grin is for. Hughes doesn't even look awake with his hair ruffled, and glasses slightly askew on his nose much less able to find something funny.

"What?"

"I should buy you an apron. Gracia's doesn't quite flatter your figure." The hand towel hits him right in the face.

 The Great and Terrible Future arc summary

This will be the arc title and all entries tagged as [arc]The Great and Terrible Future.  These entries will be written in no specific order, but all in the same FMA Alternate Universe Setting.  The basis of this setting is that Roy went a little mad with the death of Maes Hughes and that madness was cultivated by another.  Driven by his rage Roy embarks upon a vicious campaign to become Furher.  He succeeds and rules Amestris with an iron fist while forming a special extermination squad to hunt down and kill the remaining homunculi.  Riza is promoted to Captain and leads this squad, clinging to the hope that with the eradication of the homunculi Roy's all consuming rage will will end.  

However his rage never seems to lessen and Riza discovers that he is working with the being controlling the homunculi.  She shoots the person with which Roy is working.  In one last ditch effort, Riza tries to make Roy see reason.  However in the end she has to fulfill the most brutal promise she'd made to him: to take his life if he strayed from the path they'd set out upon.  Now, with Envy posing as the dead Furher Riza tries to heal the wounds of Amestris and bring peace to the wore torn country using her greatest and most unpredictable card - Envy. 

These are the tales of Riza and Envy, learning to work together because neither one of them have anything left.  Envy stays because he cannot stand to be alone and has little idea how to operate in the world without someone holding the proverbial leash.  Riza is driven by the need to remake the world in the vision she and Mustang once believed and to not have history remember the man she loves as a monster. The road will be long and perilous with the specter of death from the outside and each other hanging over both their heads.  

It will likely be tragic, dark, and angsty so be warned!
